Baby Shower Decoration at Home in Lahore: Checklist

How to plan a baby shower at home in Lahore — timing, the balloon arch, the dessert table, and a week-by-week checklist you can actually follow.

6 February 2026 · 6 min read

A baby shower at home is the easiest event on this list to plan and the easiest one to overspend on. Almost all of the visual impact comes from two things: the balloon arch and the dessert table. Get those right and nothing else matters much.

Here is how we plan them.

Four weeks out: pick the room, not the theme

Everyone starts with the theme. Start with the room instead.

Walk into the space and find the wall that will be behind the mother-to-be in every single photograph. That wall decides your whole setup. Look for:

  • Natural light from the side, not behind. A window directly behind the setup turns every guest into a silhouette.
  • At least 8 feet of clear width. Less than that and a balloon arch looks cramped rather than generous.
  • Nothing distracting above. A ceiling fan directly over the arch will move it all afternoon.

Only once you have the wall should you pick colours — and pick them to work with what is already in the room, not against it.

Three weeks out: order the cake, then style around it

This order matters. The cake is the one thing you cannot change at the last minute, and it will be the brightest object on the dessert table.

Order it first, get a picture of what it will look like, and then choose your table colours to match it. Doing it the other way round is how you end up with a sage-green table and a bright pink cake sitting in the middle of it.

Two weeks out: the arch

A balloon arch is either the best 10,000 rupees you spend or a sad, drooping thing that has half-deflated by the time the food comes out. The difference is entirely in how it is built.

Built properly, it has: a rigid frame behind it, balloons in three or four sizes clustered rather than a single row, and no helium — quality air-filled latex on a frame holds its shape for days.

Built badly, it has: individual balloons taped to the wall in a curve. These start sliding within an hour.

If you are commissioning one, ask directly whether it is frame-mounted. If the answer is vague, that is your answer.

One week out: the dessert table

Three rules, and they cover almost everything.

Vary the height. Cake stands, boxes under the tablecloth, one tall vase. A table where everything sits at the same level reads as flat in photographs, no matter how good the food is.

Odd numbers. Three cake stands, five jars, one centrepiece. It sounds like superstition; it is just how the eye groups things.

Leave gaps. A crowded table looks cheap even when everything on it is expensive. If you have to choose between adding one more tray and leaving space, leave the space.

The day before

  • Confirm the setup team’s arrival time and tell them your guest arrival time, not your “ready by” time.
  • Clear the room completely. Move furniture out, not to the side. A sofa pushed against the far wall is in every wide photograph.
  • Charge whatever you are taking photos with. This sounds obvious. It is the most commonly forgotten thing on this list.

On the day

Setup for a home baby shower takes us three to five hours. If your guests are arriving at 4pm, a team arriving at noon is right; a team arriving at 2pm is cutting it close and you will be getting ready around them.

Take the group photograph early, before the food comes out and before anyone has moved the props. Ten minutes after guests arrive is the right time. An hour in, the table is half-empty and there are handbags on the sofa.

Rough costs in Lahore

SetupFrom
Balloon garland, cake table, name board — up to 30 guestsPKR 15,000
Full arch, themed dessert table, photo backdrop — up to 60 guestsPKR 30,000
Hall or lawn, multiple features — 80+ guestsPKR 55,000

Gender reveal setups sit in the same range; the reveal mechanism itself (boxes, cannons, a two-colour arch) adds relatively little. What it does add is timing pressure, so plan the moment with whoever is setting up rather than improvising it on the day.

The one thing worth paying for

If you cut everything else, keep the custom name board. It is comparatively cheap, it is the thing guests photograph themselves next to, and it is the one item from the whole setup that the family actually keeps afterwards.
